Obituary for Harry Fritz

Harry Fritz
Harry F. Fritz, 88, formerly of Lemasters, died October 27, 2017 at Menno Haven Nursing Center, Chambersburg.
Born October 18, 1929 in Little Cove, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Helen Mae Yeakle Fritz.
Harry attended schools in Cove Gap and was a 1948 graduate of Lemasters High School. Following graduation, he began his career with Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He served in the US Army with the 7th Infantry Division in Korea during the Korean War, from 1953 to 1954. Harry returned to DHIA and retired October 1, 1993. He was a school bus driver for Friese Transportation from 1994 to 2015.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mercersburg, where he served faithfully in many capacities. He was a charter member of Edward Parnell Ruritan Club, and a member of Lemasters Community Association. Harry was Peters Township tax collector from 1974 to 1990, and was a Republican Committeeman. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Orioles baseball fan.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, June Myers Fritz, who died October 3, 2001, and siblings, Evelyn, Helen, Glenn, John, and Coey.
Surviving family include his companion, Dorothy Fritz, Chambersburg, a daughter, Suzanne F. (P. Curtis) Johnson, Mercersburg, a son, Stephen M. (Jane) Fritz, Wyomissing, four grandchildren, Rebecca (Jamie) Barlup, Greencastle, Carl (Shannon) Johnson, Mercersburg, Ben Fritz, Phoenixville, Annie Fritz, Philadelphia, four great grandchildren, three siblings, Rosalie Stetler, York, Amy (Paul) Hopkins, Mercersburg, and Charles Fritz, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM November 1, 2017 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 129 E. Seminary Street, Mercersburg, with Reverend Ileana Bosenbark officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing 6 to 9 PM Tuesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
