Obituary for James Helman

James H. Helman, 87, of Ft. Loudon, died May 11, 2017, at his home.
Born September 19, 1929, at McConnellsburg, he was a son of the late Norman L. and Anna L. Seville Helman.
As a young man, he was employed by John Keefer Garage of Ft. Loudon. For several years, he was employed at various quarries such as Fry Coal & Stone/Martin Marietta, Susquehanna Quarry, and F. S. Lobky Quarry of New York. He was a self -employed excavator for 11 years.
Jim was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Chambersburg. He enjoyed gardening, and flowers.
Surviving family include his wife, Elizabeth L. Thomas Helman, whom he married February 17, 1978. Two daughters, Glenda S. Helman of Ft. Loudon and Tammy L. (Wilmer) Gossard of Chambersburg. A granddaughter, Faith Kauffman, two great grandchildren, Bentley & Chevelle Bitner, four sisters, Elizabeth Johnson of Shade Gap, Sarah Sowers and Gayle Chestnut both of McConnellsburg, and Mary Noyes of Fayetteville. Jim was preceded in death by a son, James L. Helman, four sisters, Betty Seville, Carol Mills, Hope Seville, and Evelyn Snyder, and four brothers, Dean, Quay, Carl, and John Helman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday May 16, 2017 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Jeff McCracken officiating. Burial will be at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Ft. Loudon.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
