Paul Ward
Paul E. "Mike" Ward, 95, of Little Cove, died at 5:45 AM April 8, 2017 at his home following a brief illness.
Born August 3, 1921 at Little Cove, he was a son of the late Dallas and Iva Smith Ward.
Mike was a life long dairy farmer in Little Cove. He was forest fire warden for 60 years. Mike drove his own school bus for 19 years in the Tuscarora School District. He was a founding member of Little Cove Gun Club, and an avid deer and small game hunter. Mike did custom butchering for a number of years.
He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove and American Legion Post #517 of Mercersburg.
Mike married Reva V. Keefer Ward on January 29, 1947. Reva died March 4, 2007.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna J. Rastelli of Little Cove and Cindy L. Ward of Hagerstown, MD, three grandchildren, Christopher Metcalfe, Cathy Jo (Christopher) Funk, David (Jill) Shelly. Seven great grandchildren, Christina, Ashley, McKenna, Keefer, Asher, Alison, and Austin. In addition to his wife, Mike was preceded in death by a son, Terry Ward, three brothers, Earl "Piff" Ward, Warren "Pat" Ward, and Russell "Hoot" Ward, two sisters, Louise Ward and Laura Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove with Pastor Paul A. Martin and Alan & Margaret Jaymes officiating. Burial will be at Little Cove Stone Church Cemetery.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
