Obituary for Ruth Williams

Ruth M. Williams, 89, of Mercersburg, died March 23, 2017, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born April 26, 1927 at Cove Gap, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Helen Suders Hays.
During her life, Ruth worked at the Mercersburg Dress Factory, Bill’s Superette of Ft. Loudon, and was a self-employed seamstress.
She had attended Mercersburg Assembly of God Church and later the Calvary Bible Church. She was treasurer of Ladies Auxiliary of Mercersburg Sportsman’s Assoc. Ruth was a member of Amaranth Willard Waterman Court #54, and Mercersburg Women of the Moose #830. She enjoyed cards & was a member of two card clubs, bowling, fishing, flowers, and cats. Ruth collected humming birds and dolls and had been on 24 cruises.
Surviving family include her husband, William E. Williams, whom she married February 16, 1985, children, Daniel A. (Mary Ann) Peck of Greencastle, Sherree D. (Jerry) McDonald of Little Cove, Suzanna M. Bishop of Hagerstown, Eric L. (Gina) Peck of Hartford, CT, and Michael A. (Lynn) Peck of York. Step-daughters, Lark W. (David) McClure of Fayetteville, and Jenny W. (Ralph) Febbo of Avon, OH, twelve grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Siblings, John Hays of Orlando, Percy Hays of Ft. Loudon, James Hays of Palmyra, and Gloria Hawk of Chambersburg. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl L. Peck, who died April 16, 1965, son, Ronald Peck, infant daughter, Vicky L. Peck, two grandchildren and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday March 28, 2017 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
