Obituary for Anna Rotz

Anna Rotz
Anna M. Rotz, 76, of Ft. Loudon, died February 24, 2017 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
Born August 28, 1940 at Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Clarence A., Sr. and Leola Ellis Overcash.
She was a 1958 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, the Chambersburg Area Practical Nursing Program, and received an Associate In Arts degree from Hagerstown Junior College. In her earlier years, she was employed as a registered nurse at Chambersburg Hospital, Mercersburg Academy, and Western Maryland Center. Anna served as the Director of Staff Development at Quincy Retirement Community for 15 years, retiring in 2005.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Ft. Loudon, where she was a deacon and past president of Consistory. She was instrumental in organizing the annual Peach Festival as a fund raiser for her church and founded the annual Women’s Retreat.
Anna served as secretary, vice chairman and interim chairman of the Franklin County Democratic Party, was committee woman of her district for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Democratic Club of Franklin, serving as its president and vice president. She was regional director of District 9 of the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women.
She served on the Franklin County Library Board for many years. Anna was appointed by Governor Robert P. Casey to two four year terms on the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. She served for over 30 years as president of the Fort Loudon Historical Society. She was secretary/treasurer of the Franklin County Bicentennial Committee and organized the Fort Loudon Bicentennial Celebration. She was a member and past vice regent of the Franklin County Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. After retirement, she organized her beloved Village Tera Ladies group, arranging monthly tea room visits for them.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Joseph S. Rotz, III, a son, J. Samuel Rotz, IV (Corinna) of Ft. Loudon, two daughters, Lori J. Rotz of Monroe, NJ, and Diana L. Rotz & companion Matt Hale of Ft. Loudon. Four grandchildren, Joseph S. Rotz, V (Arin), Cayla D. Richards (Mike), Zachary A. Long, and Jessica P. Long and companion Tyler Smith. Seven great grandchildren, Reanna Jo, Rhyder, and Pacey Richards, Joseph S. Rotz, VI “Jase”, Corbyn Rotz, Grayson and Emersyn Smith. A sister, Nancy Hoover (John) of Ft. Loudon, two brothers, Clarence A. Overcash, Jr. of Dillsburg, and Arthur L. Overcash (Sheila) of Hagerstown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM March 1, 2017 at Trinity UCC of Ft. Loudon, with Pastors Loy Garber and Jan Bye officiating. Burial will be at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Ft. Loudon.
Visitation 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
